Binary Post #9

1. The highest level in the binary game I got to was level 5.
2. The hardest part of the binary game would be when you have to count the bits and put in a number. Especially when you get into the hundreds.
3.  I find binary number counting cool, but I personally don't like it and would never use it. I find it a little unpractical and inefficient for everyday counting.
4. You could have each finger worth a different bit. For example your thumb finger would be worth one, your pointer finger would be worth two, your middle finger would be worth four, your ring finger would be worth eight, and your pinky finger would be worth sixteen.
5. When I send an email the signals are coded and decoded in binary,

Why do Computers use Binary

3 things I learned:
1. Binary is a base two system
2. the numbers encode with different voltages
3. There is no base 1 numeral system

2 things i didn't understand
1. What he meant by saying choice is the essence of twoness
2. How everything in computers could be each have an individual binary code.

1 thing I would like to know
1. Does every computer use binary, and if so, do they only use binary to code things or is there different systems as well.

Choose Your Own Culture #6

Youth Subculture: Graffiti
-Any type of writing on a wall, as well as drawn images.
-Urban Graffiti is made normally with spray cans
-Started in New York in the late 1960's on subway trains
-Tagging is when you put your name on trains so that it gets around
-Style wars of graffiti between artist happened in the 1970's
-Most graffiti is actually not gang related
-The 1970's were known as the golden age for graffiti, but for police it was a problem that was hard to control.
-Graffiti was away to show creativity
- Heightened security in the 1980's made graffiti die down a little
- Graffiti is considered one of the four elements of hip hop
-Major part of urban environment

Eliza

1. I dont find the computer program "Eliza", to be very human-like. You can't ask her  any questions with the word "you" in it or she will say that we aren't discussing her. Also there is some grammatical errors as well.

2. To make Eliza seem more human you should be able to talk about her and have her answer questions. She wants to know more about the stupidest things. For example why you want to eat a sandwich.

3. I don't expect a computer to express much emotion, but it could be programmed to pick up things like "I'm sad," and respond with a compassion such as, "I'm sorry, why?,"

4. In the future I can see how people will make computers be a human-like substitute, but they wont replace a human. There's something about a living breathing person that has programmed emotions that you can't replace by a computer.

Google Boys Video

1. Google went from a two-man operation into a profitable large corporation by first getting a lot of publicity. Once people started hearing about this new search engine, Google suddenly got millions of views and they needed more people to run the company and keep up with all the new websites popping up. Then Google has companies paying them for advertisements, and also investors.

2. Two challenges Google faces moving forward is making Google time faster to get results. Staying ahead of the competition with other popular search engines.

3. The key to being and staying ahead of all their competition is that Google goes through all the results and orders them by page rank so that you get the most popular links and most correct links to what you're searching for.

4.  Google finds all of our information to make fast searches by having Googlebot search and crisscross the cyberspace.
